Möbius

Her name is now Möbius. Mobi. Mo. I think it works for her.

Möbius met the dog and cat at my parents' house today. I don't think any of them are quite sure how they feel about one another, but at least they all survived the encounter. It seemed a better plan than leaving my new kitty alone in my cold apartment for a week.

A new as-yet-unamed friend

I have a new friend:
Acquiring said friend was quite a snowy adventure. And she still needs a name. But she's little and cuddly and makes me happy. Hopefully my warm(ish) home and attention make her happy, too. More details on the acquiring-kitten adventure are to come...

Snow Day

It's a snow day.
I made cinnamon rolls, and have been sitting in my comfy chair and reading At the Back of the North Wind under one of our drafty windows, comfortably wrapped in a blanket with a heated, rice-filled neck-warmer covering my feet, as the cinnamony smell fills the room.
And my Christmas lights are on.
And the world is white and full of flurries.
And later I'm planning to go outside and walk around in the snow, getting nice and cold so I can come in and appreciate the feeling of warming up again.
And tonight I'm having homemade chowder in a bread bowl for dinner.
I even have a fireplace, courtesy of YouTube (it doesn't have that irreproducible smell of a wood fire, but at least it crackles).
Snow days are good days.

Lunch Cart

I finally ate at one of those lunch carts on 9th street, and had a giant plate (well, take-out box) of amazingly delicious pad thai. Completely satisfied all my hopes and expectations for lunch-cart eating. I'll have to go back and try the fried rice. Mmm.

The Bagpiping Unicyclist Strikes Again

There's a bagpiping unicyclist in my neighborhood. At first I thought he was a farmer's market anomaly, but today I ran into him again (almost literally, but we missed) while I was out for a walk. He's a big hit with tourists, if the crowds with cameras were any indication.

Wacky. I love it.
